Inner Peace

Inner Peace, each person can acquire inner peace by many ways. I Believe i have have almost reached it, before my anger would just burst out and i would unless it on everyone or anything that stood in my way. I have finally been able to surpass that stage in my life, and it was very simple to do. All I had to do was talk to my aunt, I opened up  100 percent to her and now i feel I am a different person. So in short just talk to some one you have never talked before and let everything out, that will teach you to be different and see life in different way.

Goals

The short term goals I will "try" to do after learning about peace this whole semester would be a bit hard to pick. In my opinion I am already in peace, therefore I do not know what i could do for a short term peace action, but if I had to pick I guess i can say I will smile at people that look upset? That is a good one I Believe. For the long term peace action I would have to say I would  want to help kids in Juarez suffering due to the cartel wars.

Upset of Libya

The Upset of Libya
By Paul Dutchover
May 04 2011

Roaming the streets in the country of Libya, angered civilians are restless because of the ongoing explosions and gunshots heard throughout the day and night. Rebellion is what has been going on in Libya since February 15th of 2011. The people in that nation have become a threat to their dictator, Muammar Qaddafi. They suffered many attacks and became victims of bombings, shootings, and abuse of their human rights.

After a 42 reign of Qaddafi’s dictatorship his people finally had enough of his mistreatment and abuse. This is understandable because no human-being should be stripped of their human rights. As individuals everyone deserves to be treated fairly and equally. Qaddafi was engaged in doing the opposite and therefore the rebellion of Libya immersed and has been in continuation until this day.

If Qaddafi continues in power this fight for freedom will never come to an end. The values that Qaddafi holds do not coincide with those of a peaceful nation. There is virtually two ways in getting Libya in becoming a peaceful place once again. First way would be if Qaddafi resigns his power and steps out of office on his own will without a fight. The second way is as same as effective but more violent, which involves using lethal forces and killing Qaddafi and his sons.

With the response to the rebellion and Qaddafi being in power, over 1,000 Libyan civilians were killed and the numbers continue to rise as the days go by. In order to keep the number of deaths from escalating Qaddafi must be removed from power, this reason being so that the people of Libya can become freed of the suffering and can have free will.

In short, the main problem behind the rebellion of Libya is in fact not the people but instead it is the dictator, Qaddafi. In order to liberate the civilians, the nation of Libya needs to get rid of the dictator and should follow a democratic structure in the way of government. The easiest and peaceful way to accomplish this is by Qaddafi resigning on his own will. Peace is needed and possible to acquire, getting to it is what makes the situation difficult.

Standing Up

The video of “standing up” is a very interesting video, the concept that it shows over standing up for the gay, lesbian community and resolving the discrimination towards them in a peaceful way works very well. Instead of the two gay boys fighting back in a violent way, they solve their problem in a peaceful manner; nothing is even said for the boys to “solve” problem. The only thing that is done is with support of the whole class students of same gender stand up and hold hands, that message is very powerful, the reason for this being is now the bully is put on the spot and no one sided with him or agreed. If more problems were solved this way, less discrimination would be around the world, leading to a more peaceful world.

Libya

After 42 years of being ruled by a single dictator, the people of Libya have finally had enough of him, which is the main reason why Libya is at unrest, they are trying to over throw Qaddafi. Qaddafi as mentioned in many reports still doesn’t not think there is a problem, in a few interviews he states “my people love me”, “my people would die for me”. The uprising started on February 15 in Benghazi, after a planned “Day of Rage” which was in response to a massacre of 1,200 Libyan prisoners that took place in 1996. Qaddafi then ordered to open fire on all protesters; this was known to the world because a lawyer of the name of Fathi Terbil set up a web-cam in Benghazi and filmed the violent attacks on civilians, the video then rapidly spread across the internet, and now many other nations such as United States, France, Britain are helping rebels to over come this struggle.

Education and CAI

Education is a very important aspect of life, for the worlds population to come closer and understand one another, education is needed. Greg Martinson did a good job in creating the organization of Central Institute, or CAI. with that organization in place many children in Central Asia now have the opportunity to have some education, they are now able to pick up a book, and learn to read and write.
One main focus of Central Asia Institute is to educate girls and women which in my opinion is a good idea; many women in those parts of the world are inferior to men, with education they are now a step closer in being equal to men. The other good thing about educating women is the birthrate will reduce as well as the children mortality rate.
Another positive  aspect of educating children in Central Asia is school related activities can keep children out of major trouble, and helps with making them less ignorant.

The Meaning of Peace

When the word peace is mentioned the definition that comes in mind is tranquility, a state where everything is calm and no problems are present. Peace is related to other "supernatural" definitions, for example heaven; or even a church and to some people their own home. One other meaning for the word is when there is no war.
A generation of people that their lives revolved around peace were the hippies, the movement which started in the 60's. The life style they lived was peace orientated, and were strongly against the war; they successfully tried to spread those feelings around America.
Religion can play another major role with the meaning of peace; many of the main ideas of religion revolve around peace, and the spreading of it to all the people in the world. As well as eternal peace; once a person passes away they will go to an eternal peaceful afterlife.
A main stream logo for peace is the circle, with a "Y" in the middle, which is also know as the peace sign. The word peace has different meaning to every person, and everyone interprets the word in their own different ways.
